She recalled that her journey into human management had started from an agency where she had to step into the position of interviewing and handling Human Resource Duties. She spoke through her experiences in different sectors saying that this has helped her in her career as a recruiting manager.

She spoke on the need for graduates to take time to first analyze their skills and experience and to pen them down after which they can begin to draft a CV.

She described the process of sending in one’s CV as a means of answering a recruiter’s question. She advised that job seekers could also go on to google to find out the job requirements for any position they are vying for and tailor their CV in the same line.

In her advice to job seekers, she mentioned that when drafting their CV they inform their referees before putting their names however if possible it could be left as ‘available on request’. She also explained that a good Cover letter is to contain the details of an applicant that could not be attached to the CV.

She revealed that she oftentimes went on LinkedIn to look for people’s profiles that match certain keywords, this she said is an advantage for recruiters and job seekers alike. She was of the opinion that even as there are tips to acing an interview they could give one a foot in the door but it would often not guarantee the job.

She went on to stress the need for people to do research on their preferred job description so as not to walk into the interview room looking clueless. Going further, she advised that candidates practice questions, find out about the organization; the location of the interview and to go in for the interview with the mind-set of gisting with a friend. Finally, she advised against overconfidence during the interview process.
