Security has now become everyone’s business in the wake of the unending Killings, kidnapping and attacks plaguing the nation.

One of many shocking security threats that comes to mind is the Owo attack, desecration of the sacred place of worship and a further eye opener that nowhere is safe.

The country has security outfits in place but the array of events gives an indication that they are overpowered by insecurity. Many dignitaries have had their security details detached from them while the country groan of not enough members of the security force.

There was once a popular comment that it is more expensive to travel on the by road compared to air because of the huge sum ransom usually demanded by kidnappers who are majorly on the roads.

NOTIFY OF YOUR MOVEMENTS

It is important that we let people know of our movements, where we are, where we at specific period of time. A lot of people have mysteriously gotten missing, and it was difficult or impossible to find them because no one could account for their last known location.

LIMIT NIGHT MOVEMENT

Some people like night travels especially for long distance trips so that they can sleep and the next morning they awake at the destination. These are times when security measures must be taken seriously, it is easier for kidnappers at night while escape is very difficult for victims at night. Even movement at night in your neighbourhood can be dangerous, this is not a time to stay out for long. Limit night movement to reduce the chances of being either attacked or ambushed by criminals.

VERFIY ANY NEW LOCATION

People have been advised to confirm new addresses especially those going for interview. If the area is difficult to locate or in an isolated area, go with someone you trust or do not go at all. Ask around, make personal researches, people have fallen victims of fake job locations.

CHANGE LOCKS

There is need to change the locks when you move into a new apartment. This is to ensure that nobody but only you have access to your property.
