The 24th Annual Conference of the Women in Management, Business and Public Service, WIMBIZ, themed OWN, Own. Walk. Nurture, held on November 6 to 7, 2O25 at Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos. The two-day event served as a dynamic platform to address leadership, economic empowerment, mentorship and the evolving role of women in nation building.
The conference theme emphasized three central pillars, OWN. Own highlighted the need for women to take charge of their stories and professional journeys. Walk encouraged authenticity, integrity and consistency in pursuing purpose. Nurture focused on the importance of mentorship and intergenerational collaboration as tools for sustaining progress
Keynote Speaker, Arunma Oteh, a former World Bank Treasurer and renowned economist challenged women to deliberately own their personal and collective journeys, emphasizing their potential to transform the nation across diverse sectors.
Taiwo Oyedele, the chairman of Presidential Fiscal Policy & Tax Reform Committee, while clearing up misconceptions on the new tax law, urged female entrepreneurs to formalize their businesses to benefit from the Federal Governments new people centered tax policies and build financially sustainable enterprises.
Panels explored topics such as the wealth playbook featured experts discussing strategies for wealth creation and sustainable economic power for women. A discussion on life after a primary career and finding purpose in new endeavors was the theme for the Protirement plenary.
The Whole Woman, Whole life Wellness journey panel also examined mental health and holistic well-being as to vital leadership performance with Retired Supreme Court Justice Amina Augie sharing her personal journey of surviving a rare autoimmune disease. She emphasized that women should see themselves as their only competitors and rise above fears, complacency and envy.
Rethink, Reframe, Revitalize session explored how generations can collaborate effectively for future growths. These and many more made up the discussion moments in the conference to concentrate on equipping women with the knowledge and networks needed to thrive and lead with purpose.
Corporate partners like the Nigerian Bottling Company also contributed to promoting women’s entrepreneurship by launching a grant initiative for women owned businesses.
Overall, the WIMBIZ 2O25 conference centered its message on emphasizing the need for women to own their identities, walk confidently in purpose and nurture others in their rise.
