AI Won’t Replace Writers, Here’s Why

AI is slowly taking our job is the fear of many sectors. A technology designed to ease human labor is now threatening the job market. While many other industries are affected by the rapid improvement of artificial intelligence, creative writing remains undefeated.

Unlike many fields where AI might be a threat, in writing, it’s more of a tool and assistant. It helps with structure, language and research but it cannot replace emotion or lived experience. The only fun it takes away from creative writing is the brainstorming process and research.

No matter how this tool is used in writing, it cannot replace the authenticity and accurate storytelling of history like writers would. The tone of writing is deeply connected with the authors experience and state of mind. Your state of mind shapes your work and even when you try to stay detached, emotions still finds its way in. this is something AI cannot recreate.

Art imitates life. In this same way, people connect to what feels true and reminds them of reality. Writers can easily find topics to write on to suit their audience taste. This is because things that hold their attention are what others would want to read as well. This is why writers are often encouraged not to separate their personal life from their creative sides.

Most importantly, AI isn’t a threat to intellectual property. It works like a vending machine, dispensing information based on the data fed to it. It doesn’t create from memory or experience. Humans can only input their ideas and reality to enhance the result.

Writing goes beyond combining words to depict an idea. It also involves creating information suited for specific platforms while ensuring it resonates with the audience. Clarity before wit is the foundation of writing and humans understand this structure better.

In the creative space, AI shouldn’t be a tool to be feared. It should be embraced to enhance writing and expand the ways we express human thought and emotion.
